Go.USA.gov

A special shortener limited to governmental URLs in the USA.

Since the US controls the .mil, .gov, .fed.us, and .si.edu, they could easily limit the number of people using their website. By imposing this limit, only trustworthy users can create an https://go.usa.gov URL. Note that any URL can be shortened, it is only the users who are limited to governmental staff as they are considered much less likely to send people to a hacker website.

Notice also that the domain uses secure certificate (HTTPS is used to access the site. The http://go.usa.gov/ URL automatically redirects you so you always end up using the secure connection.)

The service started in 2010 and they already got 28,000 shortened URLs and nearly 6 million click through.
